We have performed case studies for sedimentary basins worldwide, including the Gulf of Mexico, Norway-Greenland, the Barents Sea, China, Ghana, and Australia. We usually work on client specific problems and do not directly market regional reports. However, our work on the Barents, East Greenland, and Vøring basins is available through the geophysical atlases of TGS-VBPR.

How does … affect my petroleum system?

This is the typical question that our clients ask. It may concern the standard processes such as burial rates, temperature state, and maturity evolution, but also more exotic processes such as influence of break up heat, mantle processes, sills, extrusions, underplates, and uplift events. Together with the client we analyse how the problem is best addressed. Often the multiphysics approach of TecMod is most applicable. However, we don’t hesitate to use other commercial tools where appropriate and can offer to develop custom tools if no other are available. The start of any investigation is a detailed literature study and frequently we perform this as a separate first project package.

Numerical Expertise

  • Thermal, mechanical, fluid flow, Darcy, Stokes-Brinkman, Navier-Stokes, coupled problems? We have the expertise. Between us we share a century of expertise in developing and running numerical models.
  • Finite element, finite difference, finite volume, multigrid, spectral methods, analytical solutions? We use them all. There is no simple answer to which method is best.
  • Laptop, workstation, cluster, graphics card? Again, we use them all. Which one is best? It depends on the problem and the answer you seek.
  • We listen to what you need and develop custom numerical models for you.
